African Drumming

Music, rhythm and songs from Africa and Latin America

This drumming workshop is suitable for all ages as a great introduction to rhythm and basic percussion techniques. We provide djembes and percussion instruments for every child to join in. The children play traditional instruments and sing songs from West Africa.

The workshop is aligned to targets within Key Stages One and Two of the Music National Curriculum.

Using traditional African djembe drums, children create sounds and music from the African continent. Every child immerses themselves in a different culture whilst experiencing a feeling of unity as part of a drum circle.
